Description

The Dachstein ‘Ramsau’ takes the anniversary collection towards more moderate challenges. The broader shape of the shoe guarantees plenty of room and comfort for feet out on relaxing treks.
The soft leather inner lining encourages natural regulation of humidity and temperature, and produces the be‍‍‍st possible fit. In fact, the new Dachsteins have an anatomically shaped tongue that makes the procedure of putting the boot on easier and more comfortable. Red laces, uppers made of high grade oiled velour leather and burnished eyelets all lend the ‘Ramsau’ that unmistakeable Dachstein retro look; whereas the sole construction is purely the product of the very latest shoemaking technology. Although the TPU stiffening plate is not visible, it has an extremely significant supporting effect, increasing comfort for the foot arches – particularly on long treks. The ‘Vibram® Multifilm’ sole also employs the very latest sole technology and guarantees supreme grip.

The right care for leather footwear

Particularly on hot days, leather boots and shoes guarantee optimised comfort in terms of warmth and humidity.

When caring for footwear after use, it is important to differentiate between leather and membrane footwear. Leather requires the application of regenerative and preservative substances, ideally a conventional shoe wax or care fluid. Wax should be applied with a cloth or a soft brush, whereas care fluids are sprayed onto the area in question and spread with a sponge. In this way the leather regains its suppleness and retains its water-resistant properties. Please note: Mesh elements should not come into contact with wax as this may block pores and impair breathability. Once wax has been applied to the leather, it may appear darker and take on a marbled effect. If this look is not desired, the outer surface can be gently rubbed with a wire brush or a special suede brush.

Hooks and eyelets can be protected from rust and corrosion by applying a dab of Vaseline or wax. There are special sprays to combat unpleasant smells. The insoles can wear out and should be replaced regularly, since they absorb the majority of the sweat produced and are subject to the greatest amount of wear.

Cleaning trekking boots outdoors

Jump in the stream!

On multiple-day tours it’s important to rinse off the worst of the dirt carefully at the end of the day in a stream or by using another source of water. Subsequently, laces should be fully loosened and insoles removed. Our tip: Even after a one-day tour, stepping into a stream makes cleaning at home much easier, because the dirt doesn’t get a chance to dry on.
