A second skin with great grip
The snug fit of Dachstein’s Super Ferrata is also a pioneering development.
Dachstein worked together exclusively with Vibram® to develop the Pinter sole especially for via ferratas. The lightweight PU midsole reinforces the main sole, while also absorbing shocks for stable and energy-saving progress on the rock face. The Dachstein uppers combine robust and highly durable Perwanger velour leather with Cordura mesh and the inner lining is with soft leather for the perfect heat regulation. The overlaps of the uppers of the Super Ferrata are pulled in and attached to the sole to form a unit, and Dachstein guarantees the supreme quality expected of a ‘100% European manufactured’ product.
The right care for leather footwear
Particularly on hot days, leather boots and shoes guarantee optimised comfort in terms of warmth and humidity.
When caring for footwear after use, it is important to differentiate between leather and membrane footwear. Leather requires the application of regenerative and preservative substances, ideally a conventional shoe wax or care fluid. Wax should be applied with a cloth or a soft brush, whereas care fluids are sprayed onto the area in question and spread with a sponge. In this way the leather regains its suppleness and retains its water-resistant properties. Please note: Mesh elements should not come into contact with wax as this may block pores and impair breathability. Once wax has been applied to the leather, it may appear darker and take on a marbled effect. If this look is not desired, the outer surface can be gently rubbed with a wire brush or a special suede brush.
Hooks and eyelets can be protected from rust and corrosion by applying a dab of Vaseline or wax. There are special sprays to combat unpleasant smells. The insoles can wear out and should be replaced regularly, since they absorb the majority of the sweat produced and are subject to the greatest amount of wear.
Cleaning trekking boots outdoors
Jump in the stream!
On multiple-day tours it’s important to rinse off the worst of the dirt carefully at the end of the day in a stream or by using another source of water. Subsequently, laces should be fully loosened and insoles removed. Our tip: Even after a one-day tour, stepping into a stream makes cleaning at home much easier, because the dirt doesn’t get a chance to dry on.
