The crafting of Loden goes back a long way in Ausseerland and can be traced back to the 18th century. Over time Aussee’s traditional Loden shoes have undergone a transformation from plain working shoes to genuine fashion items. They are robust and rustic without unnecessarily fancy features.
With the new boot for men, Bergwerk, and the long shaft version for women, Edelweiß, we have achieved a harmonious blend of original materials, the typical Aussee Loden shoe look and modern technologies. The original Schladming Loden shaft is both attractive and functional. As a naturally water and wind resistant fabric, Loden is perfect for the cold winter months. The bandages and toecaps made of high-grade full grain leather give the boot an elegant finish and lend added protection from wear. Our mix of materials is rounded off with a cosy lambskin lining to provide additional warmth for feet. Traditional brogue perforations embellishe the edge trims on the leather at the base of the shaft. Both shoes are made using the double seam technique; this makes them robust and enables the soles to be replaced. The functional sure-grip Vibram® Betulla foam sole is the final piece in the puzzle and guarantees excellent grip, whatever the surface underfoot, and the special Gumlite foam mixture provides even better insulation than conventional rubber soles.
