The clouds are reflected in the puddles all over the roads and pavements. Isolated rays of sunlight begin to struggle through. The streets are empty after the rain.
It’s a perfect opportunity to explore the town – with the right footwear, of course: The Ocean GTX boot for men is a great-looking companion for every day of the week. It’s made of high-quality full-grain leather and keeps the water out with a waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex® membrane. Dachstein rounds off the classic look with comfort inserts made from regenerated ECONYL® nylon mesh over the ankles and on the tongue in cognac or graphite. The fabric is both ecologically sustainable and also gently caresses the ankles. It’s so comfortable, many will never want to take it off. The boot is completed with a Vibram® Betulla sole to ensure men are guaranteed sure footing on cold winter walks thanks to the grippy Gumlite foam compound.
The right care for leather footwear
When caring for footwear after use, it is important to differentiate between leather and membrane footwear. Leather requires the application of regenerative and preservative substances, ideally a conventional shoe wax or care fluid. Wax should be applied with a cloth or a soft brush, whereas care fluids are sprayed onto the area in question and spread with a sponge. In this way the leather regains its suppleness and retains its water-resistant properties. Please note: Mesh elements should not come into contact with wax as this may block pores and impair breathability. Once wax has been applied to the leather, it may appear darker and take on a marbled effect. If this look is not desired, the outer surface can be gently rubbed with a wire brush or a special suede brush.
Hooks and eyelets can be protected from rust and corrosion by applying a dab of Vaseline or wax. There are special sprays to combat unpleasant smells. The insoles can wear out and should be replaced regularly, since they absorb the majority of the sweat produced and are subject to the greatest amount of wear.
