The Finnish Luhta Sportswear Company (Lahti) acquired a 49 percent stake in Dachstein in the summer of 2018 and will take over the remaining shares in 2019. The Luhta Group, with sales of over 245 million euros and 1,700 employees, is one of the largest sportswear manufacturers in Scandinavia and is broadly positioned thanks to its international and vertical sales structure. In the coming years, Luhta will support internationalisation and growth as a strategic partner.

Dachstein becomes an independent company – foundation of the Dachstein Outdoor & Lifestyle GmbH.

The company stays a controlling share of the Austro Holding, which was established by Dr. Erhard F. Grossnigg. The new Dachstein team is working on new innovations and refreshing designs intensively.

‍‍‍‍‍Dachstein reaches the zenith of its popularity, and in Austria 90% of the population are familiar with the brand. Dachstein is the most successful ski boot brand at the Ski World Championship in Bormio.

A revolutionary innovation changes the entire ski boot market, as the rear of the boot now folds back to allow skiers to climb in far more comfortably, without reducing the secure fit of the fastened boot.

Annual serial production exceeds a million pairs of shoes for the first time when the range of footwear is expanded to include cross country ski boots, leisure and jogging shoes.

Further innovations follow, such as the introduction of PU sole technology – which lays the foundations for today’s trekking footwear.
